Op 2 Maart 2025 overleed gekend kampioen Marc Pollin uit Snellegem op 78-jarige leeftijd.
Marc, die de laatste jaren samen speelde met zijn zoon Geert, was een uit West-Vlaamse klei geknede werker die in al zijn nuchterheid zeer goed besefte dat zonder de nodige inzet je nergens komt. Ook qua duivensport werd er nooit op een “efforke” meer of minder gekeken.
Voor Marc stond duivensport gelijk aan met doordacht te werk gaan en altijd te investeren in de toekomst van uw kolonie. Om die reden werden, op één uitzonderingen na, geen enkele topper verkocht maar kregen ze een kweekbox toegewezen. Wereldberoemde Pollin kampioenen of beter is “Pollin-iconen” zijn “De Perpignan”, “Dortmunder”, “Mortifer”, “De Limoges” .
Dankzij hun kweekprestaties konden Marc en Geert – generaties later - fier zijn op de prestaties van onder andere “New Belgian Pride”, “Joe”, “Brother Joe”, “Cadel”, “Bruce”, “Montauban II”, “Limo 301”, “Brutus”, “Mister Jarnac”, “Michiel” enz.
Allround duiven…zou kunnen we de Pollin duiven het best omschrijven. Of het nu 200km of 900km is…ze vliegen toch zo graag in de top van de uitslag. Maar ook op andere hokken presteren de Pollin duiven als de beste. De lijst met referenties is eindeloos en zelfs in 2025 moet deze nog wekelijks ge-updatet worden.
De laatste jaren werd er onder impuls van Geert succesvol deelgenomen aan diverse internationale One Loft Races. Ook daar tonen de Pollin duiven hun uitzonderlijke klasse… bewijs is onder andere hun 1e plaats in de finale race van de gekende Pattaya race.
Wegens het heengaan van Marc komt er ook een einde aan de duivensport in de Walbekestraat te Snellegem. Geert heeft niet de ambitie om de duivensport verder te beoefenen.
Dankzij de professionele zorgen van het Herbots team zal de Pollin kolonie in verschillende delen online verkocht worden. Alle huidige topvliegers, kwekers en tevens enkele 2025-duiven komen online.
Geert zal enkel een groepje jaarse duiven behouden om jongen te kweken die dan ingezet gaan worden in One Loft Races (vooral in Thailand).
Wie investeert in de Pollin duiven, investeert in de toekomst van zijn kolonie. Nog eenmaal wordt hiervoor de kans geboden, en dan nooit meer. Hier mag u niet twijfelen!
