Op 28 Mei 2022, de ochtend van zijn lievelingsvlucht Bourges, is Dirk Van Dyck op 61-jarige leeftijd van ons heengegaan. De strijd met verschillende gezondheidsproblemen waarmee hij de laatste jaren te kampen had heeft hij verloren. We zullen Dirk niet enkel en alleen herinneren als een groots kampioen met de duiven maar ook als een aimable persoon. Iedereen was er welkom en Dirk was steeds bereid om te helpen. De Driehoekstraat in Zandhoven werd een bedevaartsoord voor duivenmelkers. Grote en kleine liefhebbers uit alle werelddelen kwamen op bezoek. Ze werden door Dirk, Anna en Natalia altijd even vriendelijk ontvangen.
Zijn 1e Nationale asduif KBDB "De Kannibaal" maakte hem wereldberoemd. Niet alleen op de hokken te Zandhoven maar ook wereldwijd waren de nakomelingen van "De Kannibaal" onoverwinnelijk en hebben internationale duivengeschiedenis geschreven
Enkele weken voor zijn heengaan hebben Dirk en Jo Herbots samen nog een selectie gemaakt van de duiven welke nu aangeboden worden.
In totaal worden 28 originele Dirk Van Dyck duiven aangeboden.

De band die er was tussen wijlen Dirk Van Dyck en familie Herbots was ongelofelijk sterk. Zowel met wijlen Filip als met Miet, Jo en Raf kon Dirk heel goed “opschieten”. Beiden maakten steeds tijd vrij voor elkaar. Een commerciële band ging over in een echte vriendschapsband en voor elkaar “iets extra doen” was voor geen enkele van beide partijen teveel. Mooie, onvergetelijke momenten die voor eeuwig en altijd gekoesterd zullen worden.
Ook tijdens de selectie van deze duiven deed Dirk iets speciaals. Zo kon Jo iets heel exclusief selecteren en met “heel exclusief” bedoelen we werkelijk iets unieks namelijk 2 zonen en 1 dochter van wereldberoemde “Di Caprio”, met daarnaast nog 2 dochters van Olympiade duif “Olympic Niels”.
Vooral de kinderen uit “Di Caprio” (B05-6045015 – origineel Leo Heremans) is een aanbieding waar niet meer aan te geraken is.
Ondanks hun leeftijd (2013 en 2014) voelen deze “energievol” aan maar om heel zeker te zijn of deze duiven perfect bevruchten werden deze kinderen van “Di Caprio” en “Olympic Niels” tijdens de donkere wintermaanden gekoppeld en eerlijkheid dient ons te melden dat er geen bevruchte eieren waren. Opgelet…dit was in de maanden November/December en omdat deze duiven toch nog zo goed en vitaal aanvoelen werd er beslist om deze duiven als “bis-koop” aan te bieden omdat we een vermoeden hebben dat deze duiven tijdens de warme lange zomerdagen wel nog jongen op de wereld zullen zetten. Garanties kunnen we niet geven maar hoop wel.
