28 Jun 2023

Last weekend it was party time at Heerlen (NL) as 28-year-old Tim Penders managed to score a fine victory from Issoudun against 3,252 pigeons. Not the first feat of this youthful fancier as also the victory "Grand Prix Orleans '21" and Argenton Sector 1B in 2022 are already on his record of achievements.

Tim says: "On the registration site, we had seen that Florian Hendriks had clocked 2 pigeons at 13h46. As we live 7km away, we also had to clock quickly and suddenly we saw a pigeon approaching, but it flew on to the nearby forest. We kept an eye on them anyway and yes, a sudden turn and then a dive towards the drop board. At 13h49min and 53sec the liberating "beep" of the electronic observation system sounded. Good for an average speed of 1,277m/m."

Winning hen is "Nowi" (NL22-8632227 - named after the not yet 1-year-old daughter), a beautiful blue hen that previously also shone with the 17th provincial Issoudun against 3,249d. . Tim had 10 pigeons in competition and 6 of them managed to place their ring number on the result. Tim only plays with hens on widowhood. These were paired at the end of December and raised a pair of youngsters from the breeders. Afterwards, they are coupled for a few days to keep them motivated. To achieve the forme at the right time, the hens were darkened in spring. Due to a busy job, a young family and the fact that the pigeons still live elsewhere with his parents, Tim mainly focuses on the middle and long distance races. And it may be said...Tim is succeeding. We are sure that some nice victories will follow.
