To win in one year of time both the first and the last international race, that’s not something many can tell. The tandem Stijn and Jeroen Rans did it anyway. They won on the 23th of June National Pau and only 6 weeks later they clocked a marvellous result on Perpignan. 2 Nationals and on Perpignan 4 in the TOP 25 National as a great closer of the extreme long distance season. They also won every week early prices and want to close it up entirely next week on Bergerac.

On Friday in Perpignan, 4,552 old pigeons were released at 07h00, that it would be a hard race and that not many pigeons would make it the same day, was clear very soon. But that didn’t stop the Rans colony from getting home early. It became a party in Wijgmaal with the following arrival times: 20h36 ( 1st Nat ), 20h44 ( 4de Nat ), 21h19 ( 20th Nat ), 21h20 ( 23rd Nat ) and 21h47 ( 55th Nat ). The day after, the party would continue but rain in the morning stopped the festivities.

The winner is a 4 year old cock,2185289-2013, that came home early already last year on Limoges. Now this year he came home from St. Vincent injured, so he had to race some Soissons in preparation of Perpignan. That he had recovered fully was something we all saw on the result. He became first national against 4,552 old pigeons and International he ended up on the 10th spot against 14,930 old birds.

Only 8 minutes later they already clocked a second pigeon, it was the 2003055/2015 who was present as a two-year old on both Brive, St. Vincent and now again on Perpignan. An amazing performance for such a young pigeon.

For this young colony it is a dream come true, they do everything for the pigeons but they didn’t see this one coming.

The nest game and chaos took care of this victory !

The nest game is their system to start of the long distance season. Which pigeon comes in best is of no count, on Perpignan it were now 3 cocks and afterwards 2 hens. And again on Pau it was a hen that had the victory.

The first 5 pigeons were almost all being basketed in a different way. The first one was basketed on 12 days breeding, he got home injured from St. Vincent and raced afterwards mostly Momignies and Soissons before Perpignan. The 2nd pigeon is a cock that raced Brive – St. Vincent – Perpignan and went into the basket on a youngster of 12 days old. The third one was attacked on a preparing race and had a hole in his wing, normally he had to go to Barcelona but that wasn’t possible now. The wing was grown in fully again, so he could get his chance on Perpignan. The 4th and 1st hen didn’t have any motivation, her partner was gone, she missed on Barcelona and stayed away for an entire week. Now she had to show her quality on Perpignan and she did. The fifth pigeon raced also first on St. Vincent and went into the basket on a youngster of 12 days.

There was a good condition on the loft so you can see that they can race top on all kind of positions.

They train daily twice during 1h15. Also in the weekend in between long distance races, they have to go either to Momignies either Soissons..
