Sabrina Brugmans from Halen wins 1st Nat (z) Bourges 2,415 old

02 Jun 2023

The first national flight of the season and Sabrina Brugmans from Halen is at the appointment, in the meantime we have already become used to this from them, but continuing to confirm is still more difficult than getting to the top.

Let's go back for a moment to Argenton National youngsters in August 2021, when victorious "Hanne" from the Brugmans house won 1st National against 23,124 youngsters, but the "Britt" and "Jill" won 13th and 30th National. It was then a hard flight and they showed their talent. In the 2022 season, these hens excelled further and again from Argenton it was a hit. “Jill” then won 1st Provincial against 1,190 pigeons and “Britt” won 2nd Provincial in a race where the pigeons again only just reached 1200 m/min. At the end of the season, “Britt” was crowned 1st Prov Ace pigeon longer middle distance KBDB in the province of Limburg, but Stephan decided to race them both for another year. You have to go with the good ones, or rather with the supers, otherwise you can't win.

Now on Bourges the roles between “Jill” and “Britt” were reversed, “Britt” is the winner here with 1st Provincial against 2,244 pigeons and 1st National (z) against 2,415 pigeons. Her loft mate “Jill” won the bronze in both rankings, but both are simply top hens with which you can go to war.

System hens

He has now fully mastered the system with the hens and is really his dada. The ladies get complete rest in the winter without coupling and just chilling in the aviaries. The training sessions will then be resumed in February, but take it easy, the season starts April 1 and 2 hours of flying in March is not necessary here. The hens have been darkened for several years from March 1st to May 1st in the hope that the form will come from May. Lighting here starts from mid-July until the end of the season. They are also always raced on widowhood until the end of the season.

They have 2 resting pens but elastics on the floor are provided, they always stay here in the evening and during the day they are always in the aviaries in front of the pens where sticks are provided everywhere where there is enough space.

So there is no coupling with cocks for the season, which is not necessary if you just want them to follow well in April and come home quickly. After the first flight, the game only starts here with the cocks who also spend the whole week in an aviary that is right next to that of the hens, so they certainly hear these cocks every day and also inside the breeding loft is right next to the hens.
Stephan divides the group into 3 teams and from the first flight from Momignies, the 1st group can stay with their cocks from Sunday to Thursday. They are then permanently paired on those few days and the following Sunday it is the turn of the 2nd group to go together for 4 days. By the end of April they all have their cocks so that the widowhood can really start. The old hens naturally know their regular partners, which works a little easier than with the yearlings.

In those 4 days there is no rest for the hens that are coupled at that moment because flying in is the message. After the flight, most groups stay with their cocks for one hour and those of the last flight a little longer, it all depends of course on how much time there is between the flights.
In terms of training, a lot of training here is still a measure of value. Normally the pigeons come out for the first time on Monday evening after a national race, recovery and recuperation are very important here. On Tuesday and Wednesday they come out twice a day and their last training is on Thursday morning.

So on the day of basketing they train first, afterwards they get something to eat, they see their cocks in different groups for an hour and afterwards they get a bath. Around 4 pm I feed them the last time and around 6 pm they start taking them away. The pigeons for sprint that are basketed on Friday see their cocks on Friday. This is a fixed schedule that has been slightly adjusted since 2023, the hens did not get to see any cocks until the weekend before Bourges, they just trained and got a bath and that's it.

From Bourges I will therefore keep this up until the end of the season. The Bourges team has mainly flown Soissons, Melun, Lorris, Soissons, Bourges and will fly Melun again this weekend before going to Argenton. The Bourges team was specifically put on Soissons the week before to give them some rest and to start fresh. It will be hard enough flights that are coming.

Accompaniment

Stephan now fully uses the Aidi mixtures during the racing season. The hens are given Girl Power on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday morning, on Tuesday evening 50% Girl Power and 50% Racing Mix 2, Wednesday morning Racing Mix 2, Wednesday evening Racing Mix 2 and 3 and on Thursday only Racing Mix 3. When they return home this is the same mixture as with departure. I mainly use this schedule when they get flights like now from Bourges, in the preparation this schedule is of course completely different, but you have to feel that yourself. They also get an extra portion of peanuts, candy, P40, grit and Tovo after their daily portion of food.

When they return from heavy races they get BT-Amin and Rotosal on their return and I then give B.S. van Belgica – De Weerd on Saturday evening and Sunday. With lighter flights in April I immediately put B.S. in when I get home. Furthermore, I always use the products from Schroeder – Tollisan and Röhnfried. This is mainly Entrobac, Hexenbier, Moorgold, Atemfrei, Carni Speed from Röhnfried and Immunol , Nano Tollyamin and Konditiepowder from Schroeder – Tollisan. On the day of departure it is always Nano Tollyamin that they get from the middle distance

Stephan and Sabrina, congratulations from the entire HERBOTS TEAM and on to the next victory.
