Habraken-Ducheyne (Vorselaar), middle distance toppers

Habraeken-Ducheyne from Vorselaar, the very first time that I visited this super sympathetic pigeon couple (and yes, the visit was before the lockdown namely on the 10th of March, yours truly is also staying and working from home) and it was about time. Off course, I got a very warm welcome with cake and coffee and it felt right away if I was right at home...
Staf Habraken and Viviane Ducheyne, both out of a pigeon family, started racing pigeons from the current address in 1985 when Karel Ducheyne (Viviane’s father) gave a couple of youngsters for their eldest son Kim. Grandpa Habraken (Staf's father) couldn't stay behind and gave youngsters to race with. Staf took on the care and started racing together with his wife Vivianne as the son's interest went out to cycling. Staf started right away on the middle distance races with the game on the short distance to train them. That first year they became immediately 4th Champion Youngsters Middle Distance Lier, and this is where their story start...
Base pigeons
Next to the above mentioned start up pigeons from the grandfathers the base of the pigeons are until the day of today pigeons from Karel Ducheyne (Viviane’s father), a true long distance racer who won a 1st National on Limoges with his top hen 'Cerafin', full sisters of 'Cerafin' formed the base on the breeding loft of Staf and Vivianne. Staf had 2 real base breeding couples namely “De 667” and the “Van Laerke” (direct Gebr. Van Laer) became the parents to “Nestbroer Bourgesman” (121 Nat. Bourges 42,763 youngsters and 73 Nat. Argenton 23,493 youngsters) and “Bourgesman”. This last one even did better with a 3rd Dourdan 502y, 11th Melun 1,931y, 2nd Melun 1,240 yl, 7th Prov. Bourges I 3,314 yl (13th Nat. 16,945 b.), 5th Noyon 598 yl, 24th Limoges 964 yl, 3rd Prov. Bourges II 1,441 yl (27 Nat. 13,116 b.). And nice list....I didn't want to lose such a pigeon and that's why I placed 'Bourgesman' on the breeding loft. And I have to be careful saying : he didn't turn out to be a fantastic breeder. But in second generation he gives me usable pigeons but the direct ones weren't head racers. And nevertheless, the family was good. A sister to 'Bourgesman' is mother to ao. 1st Provincial Orléans against 14,373 youngsters. But maybe I'm too critical. A grandson 'Bourgesman' wins 1st Provincial Chateauroux 2,644 old birds (in 2016). 'Brother Bourgesman' is great-grandfather to 1st Provincial Chalons 1,821 old birds (in 2014).
Breeding couple number 2 is in my eyes even more important. These was 'Rappe' (1st Dourdan 1,458 youngsters) x 'Sister Cerafin'. Out of this couple I bred 'Lady Vi' 1st Ace bird Kempische Long Distance club), 'Prinses' and '07-238' ( a hen without a name but mother to 'Lars' 1st Provincial Souillac and 1st Ace bird Old Long Distance club Antwerp 2013).
In a later stage pigeons from Sus Heylen, Theo Vangenechten, Marc Vlaeminck, Herman Van Sande were placed on the loft and lately we have succes with pigeons from late Frank Punt and Karel Meulemans. A Meulemans pigeon (strain Bart&Nance Van Oeckel) x ‘052’ became 1st Provincial Bourges 10,308b. And off course pigeons from Patrick & Guido Claes from Vorselaar as they bred the mother to my 'Olympic Vivianne'. One of my base breeders 'Jelle' ( a direct pigeon from Patrick & Guido Claes) is the father to the mother of ‘Olympic Viviane’. Unfortunately this hen was sitting dead on her nest the year after we won the Olympiad title, we still have a full brother to her on our breeding loft, the uncle of 'Olympic Vivianne'. In 2009 'Jelle' became father to 'Patrick' 1st Provincial / 4th National La Souterraine against 17,814 youngsters and co-winner 1st Provincial and 2 National Champion youngster Long Distance KBDB.
Loft
For the season of 2020 there are 3 old and 4 yearling hens, 6 old and 12 yearling cocks and about 60 youngsters waiting to race. Hopefully they will get the chance this year to show themselves. These pigeons are bred out of the 10 breeding couples on the breeding loft with amongst other 2 sons out of 'Olympic Viviane'. A rather small loft but with a very long list of top pigeons and results where you can have a look at underneath...without words...
