Marc & Geert Pollin (Snellegem) pop to 100 % !

29 Jun 2022

We are in the full flow of the 2022 season. We already had some national races on the middle- and long distance, the first long distance races have started and we are in the middle of the season 2022.
The youngsters are also already on track and here and there, we already get a view of who has already picked some nice cherries from the tree this season.
For some, it is licking their wounds, for others quietly enjoying their victories and secretly hoping for strong rankings and ace pigeons.

As has been the case for years...Hok Pollin is ready

And history repeats itself. Every year, there are surprises and this as well in the positive as in the negative sense, but fortunately, there are also certainties. Such as lofts that are very difficult to knock out and that are always ready for action.
Such a loft is undoubtedly Diane, Marc and Geert Pollin in Snellegem. An outbuilding full of trophies, walls full of diplomas and badges of honour, wholesaling in national victories, ace pigeons, championships, yes even Olympiad pigeons is their result of a constant playing and breeding strategy and a fine knowledge of pigeon racing.
You do not stand years after years on several stages without a strong breeding foundation, a good care and a fine pigeon eye.
Yes, we still know them all, the heroes of the past on these lofts like The Perpignan, the Limoges, the Poitiers, Mortifer, Dortmunder, Nai, Igor, Joe, Miss Joske, Bruce, New Belgian Pride, Mister Jarnac, Brutus, ......... and so on. A laundry list of pigeons that have flown very well and are also nicely woven into the strong breeding loft in Snellegem.
They all have a number of common characteristics such as soft and rich feathers, strong and intense colours, a good and spacious wing...and above all results in all circumstances and on all distances.  Although the focus is mainly on the middle- and very long distance, they also score top on the middle- and very long distance, which emphasizes the width and strength of this colony.
The care is punctual, good, with focus and attention but still without frills. Everything is done to get them in the best condition at the start but "the toenails are not lacquered" to put it more plastically. The basket is the ultimate selection lord.

And in the current season, too, this appears to be a very good approach.

Scoring at almost 100

Yes, Pollin is one who can easily take his first drop, and that doesn't scare anyone anymore.  Without this fine knowledge of the trade, you don't achieve the titles as they did in the past. They know their pigeons, they know who is constant and whose form curve is rising.
This season, it is again the same story. Easy pigeons in the top, usually the 1st and 2nd released pigeon in the top and what is especially striking this season is the scoring in prizes at almost 100%. Probably a clear signal that the whole team is in a good condition and that the years of focused and good selection has brought a strong homogeneity in the team. The bar is set higher and higher and the weak branches are cut away. This leads to a very strong army where the soldiers are worthy of each other.
When we take a closer look at the results, it is especially the high price percentage that strikes us.  We have to admit that this is possibly with old pigeons because the fancier already knows his team through and through, but also with yearlings, the scoring percentage is very high. This makes us hope for the future of this team.

Is there still a bit of sand left?  If Snellegem manages to keep up this trend, it will be a season with a golden edge. And a team in form is never shy of a stunt with a national top or an ace pigeon...and they know a thing or two about that at the Pollin !

Splendid reference with Gerard Koopman with super pigeon Coby

Unfortunately, this is again no big news...because in the past many lofts have achieved very strong results with pigeons from the Pollin loft. We can list a lot of references, but we want to highlight one of this season.  Gerard Koopman, who we can consider as one of the leading pigeon racers on international level of the last 30 years, knows since long the way to Snellegem. In the past, Pollin pigeons were already bought and some years ago the best of the breeders were bought.

The 2 year old cock Coby (NL20-4753982) is a real super pigeon. This season he flies on the lofts of Gerard many top prizes with twice 1st prize of the whole lot of pigeons.

1st Dreis-Bruck 17,478b.
1st Sourdun 5,528b. - fastest out of 12,124b.
8th Arlon 8,934b.
8th Sourdun 5,502b.
26th Sens 4,995b.

His father (BE17-3000086) is a direct descendant of the Pollin breeding loft and is a son of Bruce who won 1st national Sint Vincent (and also close family of Olympic long distance pigeon Brutus).  Bruce was coupled to a daughter As-Trix who is also a very good sire.

This quality coupled with the top pigeons of Koopman led to the birth of a real crack.

Sublime result Bordeaux (Pau 2022) and Tulle

After 7 nights in the basket the pigeons from the international race from Pau could be released on Monday June 27. Because of the difficult weather conditions in Pau they were brought back to Bordeaux which resulted in a shortened flight.
The Pollin's had basketed 2 experienced pigeons, one of which had already achieved a strong result on Pau for 3 years in a row.
An unexpected positive turn when suddenly the first one entered high in the sky and came down very early (provisional result 15th national).  When the pigeon was just inside and was taken care of by Marc and Geert, the 2nd pigeon entered neatly.  With a minute difference both won a top prize.

Probable result

- Provincial : 6th and 8th out of 863 pigeons
- National : 15th and 20th from 3,734 pigeons

The two boars responsible for this are respectively a son of Black Roger (top pigeon bought from Willems Roger from Attenrode) coupled to the super hen Miss Joske (daughter Mortifer x Miss Sedna.

The second one is child of an equally famous pedigree namely a son of the "12" (top breeder) and himself son of the Dortmunder coupled to a daughter of Orion of Boudewijn Jonckheere.

Also at Tulle (with release on Tuesday after almost a week in the basket) it was banging. From the first arrival of the first pigeons on the border, it appeared that West Flanders would score the earliest pigeons.  At Marc and Geert's place, it was a yearling that won a 5th national and made the (postponed) weekend a real party.

He is not 'by chance' a son of Limo 301 who was himself a top fancier with a.o. a 3rd national Libourne on his name. He is already the father of several top fanciers. The mother is again from the golden line of the 12 where a.o. Joe and Brother Joe are born.  The real strong basic lines completely fulfil their expectations.

As a start of the season on the very long distance, this can more than count !

To summarise, the intermediate score in the season 2022 for the Pollin loft can be called more than strong. So don't be afraid if in the next few weeks they still score a top in Snellegem !

Best of luck !
