Hamme: Also for our champions from Hamme, the preparation for the new season did not always go as desired. Benny "What has it been already! The weather was really not kind to the pigeon fanciers. First the many cold, dark rainy days when a total of 3 preparation flights were cancelled or brought back and then afterwards the warm days with the tight north/north-east wind as a companion.
It has not been easy for our winged friends yet, but while the weekends are ticking by and the season for the old and yearling pigeons is already in its final phase because once August most of the fat is already off the soup. Hopefully the July month will bring stable and good pigeon weather. Fingers crossed
Because of the lesser preparation, the first planning for the 2023 season was also put in the bin and a new planning was put on paper. The 48-headed widower team that was planned to finish the long distance programme was split into two with one group still going to the long distance races and the other group being allowed to prove it on the large middle distance races. And last weekend it was one of the cocks namely "Chao" who showed his skills and excelled with the 1st provincial against 2,575 old and 3rd national against 11,259 old.
Benny says: "Chao flew as preparatory flights Quievrain, Noyon, Orleans (384km) , Chateauroux (505km) and 2 x Toury (384km). As the season is already quite advanced, "Chao" was "tickled" a bit by giving the nest dish for the first time at basketing. Apparently this was enough to make him go to the limit."
It must be said, the 27 old Steveninck pigeons which saw the release from Argenton have put a bang on the paper. Herewith the zonal and national results
