DE BISSCHOP GUSTAAF & JAN - ASSE 1st NATIONAL ARGENTON 22,383 YEARBIRDS - FASTEST OF 36,004 BIRDS 2017

Asse: National Argenton had a nice participation list of 35,844 pigeons. The fastest of the entire platoon was the year bird hen “019-duivin” (B16-2031091) from the known champion De Bisschop Gustaaf & Jan from Asse.

“019-16” didn’t leave any competitor ahead with a speed of 1,623.56 m/m. The other two in the top three were the pigeons from Renders Ivo (Geel – 1,620.89 m/m) and Daniels Willy (Kessel – 1,617.11 m/m).

FROM THE SHORT DISTANCE RACES TO THE NATIONAL RACES

In the beginning this colony was big-time on the short distance races but the urge to try it on the national races got bigger and bigger and since about 4 years they tried their luck on the middle distance and the great middle distance races. For this reason their best short distance pigeons were being coupled to new investments. The short distance bases exist out of pigeons from Joseph Debaut, Arthur Vandewinkele and Marcel Vandenbroek. The new input came from Louis Van Eynde from Brussegem ( where they bought a round of youngsters in 2011 ) and was being strengthened with the best of the best from Erik Limbourg (Brussegem), Vandenabeele Gaby (Dentergem), Jos & Jules Engels (Putte) and 2 hens from Willem De Bruijn (Reeuwijk).

In 2014 the father-son combination Gustaaf & Jan De Bisschop had the best youngster of the entire country over 6 national races. In 2015 the De Bisschop-pigeons confirmed their class and they became 4th National Champion GMD year birds KBDB 2015 and got the 8th and 14th National ace bird GMD year birds KBDB 2015 with two amazing hens who were also sisters namely “Bliksem Blacky I” and “Bliksem Blacky II. Whether this wasn’t already enough, “Bliksem Blacky I” became 1st National Ace bird over 6 & 7 National races within the Herbots ranking, her sister became 7th. Also the season of 2016 was one to remember!

MEDICATION AND NUTRITION

In a medical way they call out for the professional help of Norbert Peeters and Vercruysse (Oosterzele). Before the racing season headed of the racing hens were vaccinated against paramyxo, small pocks and paratyphus (before the vaccinations they cure during 5 days with Cosumix). They were also being cleared of trichomoniases and two weeks ago the racing hens were being treated for a second time against trichomoniases with a pill.
During the season, they always get an eye drop before and after the race. Thanks to a good ventilation on the loft they hardly have to cure against ornithoses. The lofts are fully closed and the ventilation occurs trough the aviaries which are placed in front of the lofts and are only open at the front side. The unwritten law is ‘When they perform well on the short distance races and when we don’t have any disaster races, we leave them be as much as possible.’

In a matter of nutrition they follow the lead of Yannick Deridder. Through Van Robayes, he market the ‘Flanders Finest’ gamma. At home coming they get one day sport, afterwards they change onto ‘Light Plus’ and the last days before basketing ‘Flanders Finish’.
