Schroyen – Stockmans (Heusden-Zolder) end their season with 1st Provincial Chateauroux 1,135 young pigeons

The Limburg colony of Schroyen - Stockmans ended their top season with a 1st Provincial Chateauroux against 1,135 young pigeons and this with their best young hen of the season. It couldn't be better, but they are never satisfied here. Ferdinand and Ivan have joined forces for several seasons now and both are perfectionists and their team runs smoothly. Of course every fancier has to deal with a bad flight or top pigeons that we unfortunately lose, but we just have to get on with it. The winning hen went into the basket as the first nominated and was therefore not disappointed, a total of 8 prizes from 12 pigeons were won provincially. This achievement makes the hen 8th National Ace Pigeon Great Middle Distance youngsters KBDB, but on top of that she is also 2nd National Ace Pigeon All Round youngsters KBDB 2023. A selection or standard whatever you may call it, but pigeons must be here from the first week to the last. week and there is no room for others here.

Young pigeons

The young pigeons are darkened, just like in so many lofts, and are raced here on the sliding door. The pigeons are trained very well and the pigeons are raced a lot here before they experience their 1st flight. The intention is to first gain confidence with the baskets, so they are simply released from the grass 4 times. Afterwards they drive it to approximately 5, 15, 30 and 45 km. This is several times per release point, they simply have to fly straight home once they are released. If they do that, you can take another step further. Afterwards they always train well at home and on Wednesdays they usually have another ride of 45 km. You can't teach young pigeons enough. The sliding door principle applies here in a way that they come together briefly during the week, very rarely during basketing and stay together for a maximum of 2 hours when returning from a flight. Recovery and rest is also important.

In terms of nutrition, they use mixtures from Galaxy Beyers, the young pigeons receive a short period of Beyers Galaxy Breeding after weaning. Afterwards this is added to Galaxy Sport and some Gerst is added, otherwise this mixture is too heavy in the beginning. During the season itself we also use Galaxy Sport and during national flights we switch to Galaxy Energy for the last 2 days, which is supplemented with Goldcorn Koopman.

As extras, we mainly use Belgasol when we get home and a lot of garlic in the drinking water together with tea and oregano. We also use brewer's yeast and yellow drops in the mouth every week. We regularly check the pigeons ourselves, but we have few problems with tricho. The growers who work with Ivan are treated against tricho once a year.
