Pierre Roger and David ( Pecrot ) winners of Ace Pigeons

Roger Pierre has been living with his family for some time in the Walloon municipality of Pecrot, the colony is run by him together with his son David. For Roger, pigeon sport is pure hobby and he prefers to race several races per weekend. His pigeons can hold their own on all races. This was also the case this year with toppers in the middle distance, longer middle distance and even further in the long distance.
 

Roger had pigeons that flew prizes in the early years, but really good pigeons only arrived here in the period 2006-2008. Then he had met Jean D'Haeseleer, who was a caregiver for Jos Deno in Leefdaal. Help was given when Jean needed help and one pleasure was worth another. That is why, after Jos' super season in 2008, Roger got a whole group of eggs from the best pigeons where the fruits showed their qualities very quickly. The 2009-2010 seasons were really great thanks to this input of pigeons and Roger had left. In this way he was able to build further, with the highlight of course being the 2 Olympiad pigeons in 2015 thanks to this line of “Beckham” – “Clyde” – “Vandenabeele” pigeons. The stock sire "Robben" has also evolved from this line, who is a real super breeder in the current colony. After that, it was a matter of waiting until 2018 for a new contribution, which again came via Jean D'Haeseleer. Jean's friend Clement Demesmaeker had bought a group of pigeons from Chris Debacker. This group was too big for Clement and Jean asked if Roger didn't want one of these, after judging some pigeons Roger took 4. Between these 4 pigeons was a real super couple, namely the parents of "Sanne Cant" - "Roglic" and "Pogacar". After having had these pigeons on loan, they went back to Clement, of course when the toppers started racing week after week at the top, Roger asked back about this couple, but only the cock was still available. He then moved to Pecrot and now he also gives new toppers with another hen. A final contribution came via Davy Tournelle from whom we have very good offspring and good friend Bodson who had a pigeon from the line of the "Rudy". This hen was tested in the breeding loft and is already mother of "Henry" 6 Nat Ace pigeon middle distance yearlings KBDB 2022.

For the heavier work, Roger turned to Veuve Caro, De Smeyter – Restiaen, Depasse – Lardenoye, Bastogne – Henry, Daniel Aerens and Alex Rans. These will be extensively tested in the 2022 season.

Multiple flying lofts

There are several lofts and several systems in the racing team. We try to introduce them to you one by one. 52 hens are raced in classic widowhood, divided over 4 lofts (12 for middle distance, 24 for long distance, 16 for longer middle distance). These hens train once a day in the morning, during the full season this is around 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Another loft of hens is also raced in classic widowhood but alternates national races and speed races. These do not fly at home during the week, but 80 km once a week.

There is one loft with 20 couples where both partners are raced for the extreme long distance. These fly 1x a week in season 80km and are otherwise not let out during the week. They always leave for their flight after 12 to 14 days of brooding and are raced per pair on one flight. When they return home, the nest is broken down and they can start again for their 2nd litter on their 2nd flight from the truth.

So you notice that the pigeons train little at home during the season, before the season they do this daily, but because the races where the partners stay cannot be screened off, the hens only learn bad manners during the week, so that they choose to to drive and not to train.In November the racing pigeons get a 4 seasons mixture together with barley, in December and January only barley and from February when they come back outside it is again 4 seasons mixture together with barley. 

During the racing season itself, the racing pigeons are raced on Beyers mixtures. Especially Vandenabeele and Long Distance are the most important mixtures used here. On the day of basketing they are fed up to 3x, otherwise it is 2x a day. After weaning, the young pigeons are given breeding for a few weeks and then a young pigeon mixture with small maize. As supplements, Roger follows the full Brockamp program.

Before the racing season, the pigeons are treated against tricho with a cure of 5 days. Every Monday of the month, all racing pigeons are again given a pill and the partners are then treated for a few days. The pill that is put on will be a different one every month. This is then done 3 times per season. For the airways I use a product from Stijn Rans, I do this 4 days in a row and with the Barcelona team I do this 15 days before basketing Barcelona.
