Jan & Jens Van Gompel from Mol wins with their super hen “941” 1st Int. National Ace Pigeon Barcelona 2020-2022

In Mol, Antwerp, we visit a colony that we meet for the first time. The striking results of recent years in Barcelona and other extreme long distance races were the reason for this visit. The father and son combination Jan & Jens Van Gompel also had the best pigeon at Barcelona International of the past 3 years in the 2022 season, a real top hen that was there 3 years in a row without mentioning the other performances of the other top pigeons here. Jan is a man who focuses on the extreme long distance and his stock has been built up thanks to the old strain of some well-known breeds. By this we mean Brothers Kuypers and Brothers Brugemann from the Netherlands and the old Tournier type from Belgium. These are colonies that have been involved in pigeon racing at the highest level for years, where you can purchase a strain that is made for heavy work. Jan mainly focuses on hard selection and trying to breed a strain that is strong in nature, this is the only way you can grow without having to use a lot of medication because he only does that when necessary. The weaklings have no place here and are given few opportunities.

As chairman of the Molse Long Distance Club, Jan naturally has his hands full with his own pigeons and this task on top of that, but the club is running well and Jan has everything under control here thanks to the help of all his helpers.
