Souillac once again enjoyed a very good flight, especially among the yearlings, who progressed significantly compared to last year, rising from 4,637 to 6,085 pigeons. Among the older pigeons, the difference is less obvious, but it does exist, which is very positive. The number of old pigeons rose from 4,476 to 4,827. This positive spiral is true in the EPRs and the provinces, with the exception of West Flanders, which fell in both categories, from 944 to 864 old pigeons and from 1025 to 903 yearlings.
The pigeons were released on Sunday, at 7.45 am, under beautiful sunny skies, a temperature of 16°C and a light S.S.W. wind.
Admittedly, the speeds were not the same as those recorded in Vierzon, but they were nonetheless consistent for a cross-country competition.
As was the case at Vierzon, Limbourg dominated the field, claiming another double victory, with an amateur not having tried his hand at anything this year. Although Limbourg is at the forefront, it is not omnipresent. It shares the top 10 with other provinces.
