Ante and Tom Platteau, the All-Round colony of Sint-Katharina-Lombeek

Tom and Ante Platteau do not need an introduction. The 38 year-old twins started on speed in 1991 in Wambeek. Many years later, having moved to Sint-Katherina-Lombeek in the meantime, they are still the best at speed. Every week, these brothers dominate Quiévrain and definitely Noyon in the region.
In the small middle distance (Chevrainvillers) they are even better and in the great middle distance, they have been amongst the great champions for years.
In the nationals, they perform magnificently. Just check out how they played the competition in four national flights for youngsters:

Bourges: 2, 4, 8, 16,… 12/25 per threesome against 328 youngsters
18/8 Chateauroux II: 1, 5, 7, 9, 12, 20,… 18/26 per threesome against 288 youngsters. Provincially they won as well against 1406 pigeons
1/9 Argenton: 1, 3, 9, 18, 34, … 9/25 per threesome against 368 youngsters
15/9 Chateauroux III: 2, 4, 9, 12, 21, 24, 27, … 13/24 per threesome against 208 pigeons

These results show that Ante and Tom are able to perform and obtain top prizes with their pigeons in flights varying from 50 to 500 km.

The brothers take care of the pigeons together, each with their own task, however. Tom motivates the pigeons and Ante takes care of administration and knows every pigeon by heart. There may be some shouting and cursing now and then but the formidable collaboration between the brothers can only be confirmed in view of the fantastic performances they can present and obtain together.
Originally, their strain was made-up of pigeons from Hilaire Van Schelfergem and Roger Schauwers. After that, they also performed with pigeons from Van Nieuwenborgh Maria, Vergotte Astere, Marcel Aelbrecht, Van Roy Geert, Herbots, Van Den Eynde Louis and Ulrich Lemmens.
Maarten De Mot has been important for the development of their success as well. Their neighbor in Wambeek helped them ascertain the rubber rings in their early years. Even in their youth, when they were going out until 4 AM, Maarten was always present to help them catch and ascertain the pigeons.
The flight pigeons were raced on widowhood and for youngsters they use the ‘sliding-door method’.
Everyone who knows Ante and Tom, knows that the pigeons fly every week. They never back-off. Striving for top results on speed, middle distance and great middle distance demands a lot of discipline and passion. That can have its disadvantages now and then. On the day of Chateauroux, for example, they were basketing earlier than normal for Noyon due to a cycling race taking place the day of their provincial victory. So they missed the arrival of their provincial pigeon. But some luck was involved: the bird – later called Miss Châteauroux – obviously entered in time so they obtained first provincial on Châteauroux against 1406 youngsters and fastest pigeon of 2158 youngsters as well. The surprise and joy were tremendous when they checked the online registrations and found their name in first place. Miss Châteauroux kept performing excellently:

Medically, they do not look far either: in fall, the birds are treated against paratyphus once and further treatments are administered only when necessary in case of wet eyes. The pigeons are treated against Trichomoniasis every three weeks. On the menu: Paloma feed as well as by-products.

Jans Kevin bought a yearling on Herbots (2004919/2016). This was a daughter of the full sister of their 1st prov. Ace pigeon kbdb speed. Kevin bred a youngster 2024982/2018 that achieved Chevrainvilliers (311km) 1/447 ; Chevrainvilliers 9/551 ; Fay au loges (358 km) 3 /198 ,… Furthermore, from 2 pure pigeons Kevin received through a voucher at Ante and Tom, came a first-prize winner 2024912/2018 flying 1/738 on Noyon (164km)

Internationally there are pigeon fanciers from Ireland who were extremely satisfied with the Platteaus’ pigeons.

This proves that Ante and Tom’s pigeons are made of the right genes. Pigeons that are driven to the limit by these two passionate pigeon racers with great results. They are not keen on paper pigeons, pigeons with pedigrees are less important. Only the results count. That is why these pigeons are a reinforcement for any loft, as they have the qualities to achieve top performances from Quiévrain to Argenton.
