Veni, vidi, vici. I came, I saw, I conquered. The famous words spoken by probably the most famous ruler of the Roman age, Julius Caesar after his speedy victory against king Pharnaces of Pontus. Words that also describe the entry of Frank Zwiers in the world of marathon racing. In 2011 the first long distance pigeons were acquired, in 2012 a cautious start was made and in 2013 the first provincial win was already recorded from Tarbes. Also from another three races that season his pigeons arrived early and the prize ratio won was exceptional which lead to winning 2nd place in the national championships. That was accomplished with a few two year olds and the rest were yearlings. After that debut year the successes kept on coming with astonishing highlights. In the season of 2015 Frank again had a super racing season becoming 3rd national champion marathon races and winning 4x top 10 NPO/national on the 5 national races and a prize ratio of 73%. The season 2016 was without a doubt the most impressive season so far. In this season Frans astonished the world by winning two national classics in 20 days, a performances that was never been done before. Both victors “Le Bernard” winner national St. Vincent and “Amber” winner national Dax were not sold and moved to the breeding loft. Frank’s vision if that you want to be the best you have to keep the best pigeons yourself for breeding, this is according to Frank the only way to keep on winning.
After the miracle season of 2016 the family Zwiers moved from Breda to Terheijden, a small village on the north side of Breda. The family with 3 children grew to big for the small house in Breda. Because the house in Breda was sold very quickly there wasn’t an opportunity to relocate the birds to the new loft. Frank made the decision to keep a the breeding pigeons and to auction his complete racing team.
After the move to Terheijden no one would have expected Frank to be back at national top-level again in 2017.
With a few relocated birds that were bred ( out of originals from Frank) and raced before by friend Ad van Dongen, Frank succeeded the almost impossible wining the 4th national championship marathon 2017 and with the relocated pigeon named “Neo” Frank had the 5th national acepigeon marathon. 2018 came and on the opening race of the season from St. Vincent “Neo” again performed wonderfully winning 8th national and hopefully winning a ticket for the Olympiad 2019 in Poland.
After this great start it was time for the yearlings to show their quality and so Frank made his debut on the international race from Agen. The race was very hard with high temperatures and head winds, only the strongest pigeons can perform in these conditions. Again Frank astonished the world winning 3,6,11 national and 13,18,23 international against 11.572 birds.
