The gold base of "Jose", "Rita", "Bolleke", "Allaphilippe", "Oscar"...and other cracks
Being in the right place at the right time can be important in your life. Eddy witnessed how "Bolleke" won a 1st prize provincial Tours by José Denoyette in 2009 and this in very hard flying weather, a strong “tour de force”. Eddy, quick as he is, bought "Bolleke" from José and it was a hit. She turned out to be a very good breeding hen and became, together with her parents José & Rita (Rita was already 5 years old when she joined the lofts in Kruisem), who were also bought afterwards, the base breeders of the colony. Supplemented with some De Rauw - Sablon (and by extension Mannaert and Aelbrecht) blood and their own old breed in the form of "Milan" and its descendants, they became the pillars of the colony (their own strain was also brought back by Marc De Cock).
What this family gave birth to is phenomenal. In all top pigeons we find these lines with ace pigeons, all-round pigeons, national victory included. They are strong pigeons with a strong carcass, a strong mordant and a good gps. It is a breeding line that has been kept relatively pure and despite this remains very strong.
Both at Kruisem and Ruien
To clarify, since the 2019 season Eddy and Maarten race on two different lofts at different places raced. In Kruisem (house Eddy) under the name Leutenez Eddy and Maarten. The racing team consists of +/- 80 youngsters, 15 yearlings and 3 old pigeons. All of them are toppers of their own "Leutenez-strain" + about 15 youngsters of Marc Adam.
Last year Maarten and his family moved into their new home in Ruien (Kluisbergen) with a view on the Kluisberg and the Kluisbos and close to the border of the province of East-Flanders and the province of Hainaut. Spacious new lofts were placed there and at the beginning of the season these were populated with pigeons of the Herbots family and some young pigeons from the Marathon specialist Marnix Leutenez from Kruisem. Here they race under the name Leutenez Milan. The racing team contains +/- 50 youngsters and 20 yearlings. The youngsters are 50% Leutenez pigeons + 50% original Herbots pigeons. The yearlings are 50% Herbots and 50% Marnix Leutenez.
