PLATTEEUW RAF & KURT - RUMBEKE 1st NATIONAL SOUILLAC 4,056 YEARBIRDS
Rumbeke: There isn’t a break at the Platteeuws’ house…the 3rd national victory in 2019 is a fact. Now it was “Nathalie” (B18-3118067) who left the 4,056 year birds behind. Where is this going to end, is what everybody is asking themselves? Not only in a matter of victories but also in a matter of national Ace bird titles the expectations are set high as there are a few serious candidates lining up to win this title of honour. The next national race will make us much smarter concerning the ace bird titles!
The national winner from Souillac is a marvellous blue hen. Average build, strong, super feathers and when we got to see her a few hours after the race she was already as round as a bullet again. She was in a matter of speaking ready to be basketed again. ‘This is thanks to the super condition that is on the loft at the moment but also thanks to the very good care of the companions in Souillac’ says Kurt ‘the pigeons from Souillac come home better than those from a middle distance race. When it is good, it can be said as well !’.
“Nathalie” is being raced according the ‘chaos’ system, just as all her loft mates. About 5 hours before basketing all cocks and hens (who are different in amount) come together and let the feast begin. At several spots carton boxes are being placed so they can create some dark corners.
“Nathalie” found her motivation by conquering a new love…and as we all know an extra motivated pigeon can do that little bit more.
BREED A LOT – RACE A LOT AND SELECT HARD
The system that Raf and Kurt manage is known in the meantime. They race many pigeons weekly and the basket does the necessary selection. This is how during the years a strain of pigeons is being created that is up to that little bit more than all the others. They avoid giving antibiotics but every 14 days they get ‘Yellow Chrystals’. At arrival they get a drop of ‘Platteeuw Eye Drops’ in each eye and ‘Platteeuw Yellow Drops’ will go over the food as well. To improve the recuperation, which is highly necessary to be able to race such a though racing program, they get “Recup Fast” and “Carbo Plus” in their drinking pot.
Despite the many successes all pigeons are being basketed every week…the next step is Tulle National. On this race everything will be done to win and when they get home a well-deserved resting period is on.
