VAN DER AUWERA GUY - FLOREA SORIN - 1st NAT BOURGES 17.944 Yls

We already visited this colony in 2017 when they already raced very hard on the heavy middle distance races. Now in 2019 they made a cooperation between Guy Van Der Auwera and Florea Sorin from Romania. Only 15 breeding couples are to be found over here, all the others are being bred at Florea. This saves Guy some time and can concentrate on the game itself. This is year this is working out really well with nice results on the middle distance races and now it was waiting what the national races would do. Only two races further and it was a hit in the rose, 1st National Bourges against 17,944 year birds with a beautiful hen accompanied by a fantastic pedigree.

Guy works as an Export Manager for Vanrobaeys and only has limited time to be full time with the pigeons but has made a system that he hardly has any cleaning to do and the old and year birds train before he leaves for work and the youngster are at the care of his sons ! After his work Guy takes over again.

Change during the season from total onto classic widowhood.

The racing team only has to worry about resting during the winter period, they house in the aviaries in front of the loft and don’t have to breed or train due to the birds of prey. By half of March they start training and on the 1st of April he couples the entire racing team, they can breed for a few days and then the widowhood is a fact.

Guy likes to have them train as early as possible, 6h15 in the morning is more rule then exception. Whether he isn’t afraid that it is too cold? The answer is no, pigeons can take on cold very well. They train at the beginning obliged during 1h30 but once they know this system they do it by themselves. This is how the training is finished by the time I go of for work.

We are end of May and I notice now that are a some pigeons that aren’t that good, I keep them home and make sure that there are always home staying partners. This is a mix of cocks and hens so they even improve and get motivated even better.

What did you do now before basketing?

I left them together when I got home from work around 5 or 6 o’clock. They stayed together for about one hour and then I took them apart again. They get Power Play ( a mixture of candy, peanuts and some other seeds ) and when I see that they had a good drink I will go and basket them.

At home coming they can stay together immediately but in the evening they will be separated so the hens can eat quietly. When it was a hard race I leave them together the next day for one more hour.

What did they race by now and what will they do after Bourges?

They had in the month of April 2 Quièvrain races and 1x Noyon. After that they all did 2 middle distance races and the hens went to Vierzon. Now on Bourges they were all basketed and they will have a race from 200km next weekend with light weather, when it is head wind they will only do a 100km race and when the weather isn’t reliable I will drive them myself.

Where are the hens during the week?

They have a resting loft where they can sit on chapels and on the floor there are rolls. But they can sit in the aviary daily for about one hour after their training as they can drink and eat quietly in there. During the day they reside always in there resting loft.

Which food do you use and which extra’s do you give?

As export manager from Vanrobaeys I off course only use these mixtures and supplements. But as the pigeons have to train a lot daily you have to feed them accordingly. This is how the hens get on Sunday and Monday Lady mix or Premium Power Relax, the other days this is Premium Sport and the last 2 to 3 feeding rounds it is Power Dynamik. For the widow cocks it is even a day earlier that I start with Premium Sport and get only on Sunday a light mixture. But it is so that when I give a light mixture on Sunday they can eat as much as they want. In a matter of extra’s I especially use E-Booster, Endurance and Hyp 100.

In a medical way I do my own check-ups on a regular base and only when I doubt I will contact a vet. This season they only got a cure against trichomoniases before the racing season started off and I make use on a weekly base of the yellow drops. They get this on Saturday evening over their food ( mostly only a small portion ) so this will go in easily and then I feed them without anything extra. The pigeons that stayed behind get this in the beak the day after they get home.

Guy and TEAM, a big congratulations from the ENTIRE HERBOTS TEAM on this victory and we wish you a lot of success this season !
