The Leutenez Eddy & Maarten birds top performances and beauty united

Father Eddy Leutenez has not had to prove anything for a long time now. Once in Gavere, then in Semmerzake, Eddy was one of the top tenors in what was once named the "Golden Triangle" around Zingem, Gavere, Semmerzake. A born winner, always looking for the best and this as well in potential pigeons as in results, no effort was too much for him. Also several other top lofts reinforced their breeding loft at the time with the quality strain of Eddy.

And then Eddy's health threw a spanner in the works and he decided to stop with pigeonsport. To stop after winning some national championships and winning all the competitions that can be won, it was very satisfying to look back, nothing to be sad about and just to take good care of his health. And just then, son Maarten (who was not that much interested in pigeons before because of other sport ambitions) gets the pigeon virus, and not a little bit.

Immediately it appears that he has the same winner's mentality as his father and for him there is no such thing as a half-measure. Already in the beginning when he is helping Eddy, it becomes clear that he has the talent to bring pigeons in top condition to a race. The first top results are not long in coming.
It is striking that the Leutenez colony is not a mega loft. The top performances are achieved with a relatively small team of birds. The limited space in Kruisem is therefore a guarantee for a very strict selection.

The gold base of "Jose", "Rita", "Bolleke", "Allaphilippe", "Oscar"...and other cracks

Being in the right place at the right time can be important in your life. Eddy witnessed how "Bolleke" won a 1st prize provincial Tours by José Denoyette in 2009 and this in very hard flying weather, a strong “tour de force”. Eddy, quick as he is, bought "Bolleke" from José and it was a hit. She turned out to be a very good breeding hen and became, together with her parents José & Rita (Rita was already 5 years old when she joined the lofts in Kruisem), who were also bought afterwards, the base breeders of the colony. Supplemented with some De Rauw - Sablon (and by extension Mannaert and Aelbrecht) blood and their own old breed in the form of "Milan" and its descendants, they became the pillars of the colony (their own strain was also brought back by Marc De Cock).

What this family gave birth to is phenomenal. In all top pigeons we find these lines with ace pigeons, all-round pigeons, national victory included. They are strong pigeons with a strong carcass, a strong mordant and a good gps. It is a breeding line that has been kept relatively pure and despite this remains very strong.

On his own wings
Young men grow up and Maarten founded his own family. Meanwhile he is together with his wife Eveline the proud parent of 3 adorable children. In the garden of their new house in Kluisbergen also pigeon lofts were built, with as a result that since 2 seasons they race on 2 different locations, namely in the name of father Eddy in Kruisem and in the name of son Milan in Kluisbergen. Getting the very best out of a colony on two different places is not easy, especially when this has to be combined with a young family and that is why Eddy and Maarten decided to only race the pigeons from 2022 onwards in Kluisbergen. For Maarten, as a super motivated top fancier, this is very important and this way he can perfectly combine "top pigeon sport" and "family".

This is also the reason why an auction is organized of a select group of performance, breeding and promising youngbirds.
