Debusschere Roger (Lokeren) only invest in the very best

19 Apr 2023

Roger Debusschere is certainly not an unknown name in international pigeon racing. It is generally known that Roger is more a breeder than a player, but he enjoys it all the more when other fanciers achieve great successes with descendants from his pigeons. Those successes then fully prove that Roger has set the right guidelines for his breeding loft and his usually heavy investments pay off. At the Debusschere home, the breeding strategy is clearly on point.
Since the 2012 season, there has been a cooperation with Damien Baert (Ere) and under the name Baert-Debusschere they achieve strong performances with as provisional highlights 2 x 1st national namely with "Mexence" and "Mexendre". "Mexendre" won 1st National Bourges '20 and this with very hot weather and "Mexence" won 1st National Tulle against 5,976d. - 1st Souppes 499b. - 1st Bourges 564d. (102nd National 22,663b.) - 5th Vierzon 405b. - 11th Montluçon 3,892d. - 14th La Souterraine 1,391d.

"Belmondo": 1st Internat. Agen 13,325 old
Roger had acquired a taste for having national victors in his breeding loft and started looking for more such toppers that crush the competition in hard flying conditions.
One such pigeon is "Belmondo". "Belmondo" won with Jean-Paul Balcaen the 1st International Agen '18 against 13,325 old birds this with head wind and at temperatures of +30gr. Flying conditions for real class pigeons and that was not lost on Roger. Roger was at the front door of the Balcaen family and when he drove home, both the international winner "Belmondo", and his parents , a brother, a sister and also the winner of 3rd International Agen were in his basket. Speaking of a world transfer.

"Little Perpignan" 1st National Perpignan 3,964 old
We stay in the year 2018 for a while and the international flight from Perpignan was also raced in very tough conditions. National winner Belgium became Christian Demaret from Havré. His "Kleine Perpignan" showed his tail to all 3,964 Belgian entrants and also won the 3rd International against 12,353 old birds. The "Kleine Perpignan" is a soft-plumed cock with a long wing and well-developed forearms. A real flyer that can perform for hours in the air.

"Michel Jarnac" 1st National Jarnac 5,371 old - fastest 10,311d.
Roger's urge to acquire more national winners had apparently not stopped because in the same year Roger also pulled on Michel Dufermont's front doorbell when his blue cock "B16-1013290" won 1st national Jarnac. "B16-1013290" was also the fastest of all 10,311 Jarnac entrants. He worked the 608km trip at an average speed of 1124.30m/m. With this, he beat the old pigeons of Vandenheede Freddy and Jacques (1111.89 m/m) and Pollin Marc and Geert (1111.02 m/). Besides the national win, this national winner also won the 94th National Argenton and other top prizes at Bourges and Chateauroux. Roger was more than impressed by this prodigy and after the necessary negotiations he moved to Lokeren.

References on numerous lofts:
The number of references from fanciers who have had success with the progeny of Debusschere pigeons is impossible to keep up with but we still don't want to withhold a few outliers from the last 2 season:
Patrick Loghe (Zelzate):
In 2021 Patrick Logghe (Zelzate) with his "Wonderen Thiago" won the 1st National acebird Marathon KBDB 2021 yearling and also the 1st Best European yearling Marathon 2 flights. The father of this national ace pigeon is directly from Roger Debusschere
Maxime Renaud from Erre (France) wins the 4th Nat Ace pigeon France in 2021 with a super pigeon BE21-4018120, a direct Roger Debusschere. He was bred from "Best Brother Mexence" mated to "Sister Michel Jarnac" direct to the late Michel Dufermont... a full sister national Jarnac winner "Michel Jarnac" .
In 2022, the Debusschere pigeons continue to impress at the Renaud home as they now won 6th and 7th National Ace young France 2022
Couvreur Geert and Koen (Bassevelde) won 3rd national acebird marathon yearling KBDB last season with their "Special Johan". This cock shone with 39th Nat. Agen 7,331d. and 63rd Nat. Narbonne 6,014d.. The mother of "Special Johan" comes directly from Roger Debusschere or yet another top reference

New challenges
Standing still is going backwards and Roger concentrated on buying direct Willem de Bruijn (Reeuwijk) pigeons, among other things. Children of stars like "Uranus", "Floris Junior", "Apollo Junior", etc.. now populate the breeding loft. The first references are flooding in again...the fairytale of this successful breeding loft is certainly not over yet.

Especially for internet sales Pigeon Bids, Roger bred and selected a group of 14 youngsters out of his national winners and original Willem de Bruijn pigeons.
